Omega Seamaster Jumbo Grey ‘Hurricane’ Dial Ref.166.067 Cal.565 36.0mm 1971

Up for sale here is a Jumbo sized Omega Seamaster with a rare grey “hurricane” sunburst dial.

Starting with the main highlight which would be the dial. It comes with a rare variation of the sunburst dial in a radial brushing format that creates an interesting effect resembling that of a hurricane, with the eye of the storm in the middle where the hands stem from. The dial comes with no visible imperfections and its original tritium markers. The baton hands match nicely with the hour markers with black colour inserts and similar tritium inserts to provide a brilliant pair with just a touch of patina.

The case comes with a pair of “fat” lugs in a jumbo size of 44.0mm lug to lug width, which was considered to be large for its era and in my opinion a perfect fit for all. The case comes in a nice brushed finish with barely any noticeable scratches and playing brilliantly in the light. This case reference is one of the rare Seamaster case references that lacks a bezel, giving it an interesting clean overall look. In addition, the case comes with its original Omega logo signed crown at the 3 o’clock position.

Turning over the case one would see the iconic Seamaster logo on the case-back. The case-back has no deep scratches from opening and is in amazing condition. Housed inside the watch would be Omega’s well regarded Cal.565 automatic movement in its classic copper tone. The movement has just been serviced mid September 2024 by a professional watchmaker and runs at an excellent -1.6s/day, which is extremely accurate for a watch of this age.

The watch comes on one of my own black lizard/calfskin mixed leather strap worth free of charge. With its blend of lizard leather on the external surface to provide a unique pattern and the inner surface being made of soft calfskin to provide upmost comfort against the skin, it is an extremely comfortable design that I personally use on some of my own watches in my collection.
