Up for sale is a very rare and difficult to find version of the IWC Portofino reference 1401. Difficult to find as it comes with the ultra-thin Caliber 443 automatic movement unlike most 1401 models that come with the manual wound Caliber 402 movement instead. Rather difficult to find on the market due to their rarity.
Starting with the dial, the dial comes in an absolutely stunning silver sunburst finish that plays in the sunlight beautifully. It comes with the big IWC logo applied to the middle of the dial near the 12 o’clock position. The dial comes flawless with no defects to the paint at all, with all of its markers on the minute track being in near perfect condition. Furthermore it comes with a pair of sleek minute and hour stick hands (lacking a seconds hand to allow the watch to achieve its thinness) that pairs well with the stick hour indices, creating a sleek minimalistic design something like the Junghans Max Bill.Moving on to the case, which comes in at a nice and sleek 33.0mm diameter with its short lugs, making it the perfect understated dress watch. This watch would work perfectly for those with thinner wrists or as a unisex watch even though it was originally intended for men. The case comes with no deep scratches and just the occasional micro scratches from time. Removing the case-back would reveal the rare C.443 Ultra-Slim Automatic movement. Freshly serviced in late October 2024 by a professional watchmaker, the watch runs at an excellent +10.0s/day. Which is very accurate for a watch of its age and if properly taken care off would be able to last without a service for several years. In addition, the watch comes on a beautiful black Crocodile leather strap with its original stamped IWC stainless steel buckle.
